Little Scare Last night

Yesterday, Joseph had a little fever in the morning and by mid day he had developed a little cough. Towards the evening we noticed that he was hot and we began to take his temperature more frequently. His cough had worsened and we decided to take him to the ER at 11:30. When we got to the Tulsa Medical Hospital and checked Joe in the nurse informed me that his temperature was 103.6. They quickly gave him a room and began to treat him with a breathing treatment and a steroid shot to reduce swelling in his throat. Joe was kicking and screaming so hard when they had to clean out his nose with suction tube that I had to hold him down. That was really hard on Julie and I to see him like that. Poor little guy was struggling just to breathe. The doctor informed us that he did not have RSV(some type of respiratory virus) but another virus that causes severe congestion called croup. By the time we were ready to leave Joseph's temperature had returned to 98.2. We were able to leave the hospital around 3:30 last night and after picking up his prescription returned home around 4am. It was a long night for Julie and I but we are glad it is over. We still have to monitor him but as i type this post I remind myself how fortunate Julie and I are to have such a wonderful blessing from God. I was amazed how easily i forgot that fact.

Please pray for Joseph as it is hard on us to give him his medication because he cries so much. Also that he would get enough rest today that we would be able to head out tomorrow. We are planning to spend Sunday night and Monday with Julie's family. Julie is hoping to go out to a Christmas breakfast with her two best friends on Monday morning providing that Joseph is feeling ok. The next twelve hours are going to be a waiting game making sure that Joseph doesn't have a relapse. But it sure does help that we have a God that we can rely on in times like these.

We are very glad to hear that Joe is doing a lot better. We are praying that he continues to get better. It is scary when they are sick like that.
